Based on the phenomenally successful stage show – which was based on the book by Victor Hugo – Les Misérables is the story of convicted criminal Jean Valjean (Hugh Jackman) who, when released on parole, reinvents himself as a totally new man. Eight years after the defeat of The Joker and Two-Face, Bruce Wayne (Christian Bale) has hung up his cape. When a new threat – Bane (Tom Hardy) – comes to town, hell bent on causing chaos, Batman resurfaces to protect the city that drove him into hiding.
