JDIFF 2014 – The Awards

For the last 10 days, the Jameson Dublin International Film Festival has been running at venues around the city. I have always been a big fan of the festival and this year I was honoured to be part of the Dublin Film Critics Circle Panel for the festival, for the third time.

Led by our wonderful, tireless, passionate President Tara Brady, a panel made up of Paul Whitington, David O’Mahoney, Donald Clarke, Rory Cashin, Nicola Timmins, Daniel Anderson and I deliberated over the 135 films shown at the festival, and today we handed out awards to those that stood out. The awards were presented by Dublin Film Critics Circle member Gavin Burke, and among the winners were Los Wild Ones – a wonderful documentary – Under the Skin, and The Reunion.

Our full list of winners is below, and I want to take this opportunity to thank Tara, my fellow jurors, Festival Director Gráinne Humphreys and the many many other people who made this possible. It’s been an amazing challenge and I, for one, am already looking forward to next year!
