Cinema Review – Project Nim

Project Nim tells the story of a scientific experiment that took place in the 1970s to see if a chimp could be taught sign language, in order for humans to communicate with another species. Nim was 2 weeks old when he was taken with his mother and went to live with graduate student Stephanie LaFarge and her family to be raised like a human. As the experiment changed and eventually broke down, Nim was shifted from one home to another, and this is what the film focuses on. Continue reading
