Cinema Review – The Big Short

In 2005, hedge fund manager Michael Burry (Christian Bale) came up with a theory, a theory that caused colleagues, investors and banks to believe that Burry was completely wasting time and money. Bury predicted that the housing market would collapse at some stage in 2007, and began to bet against the market. It’s not long before other financial dealers get wind of this theory and, believing Burry to be right, begin to gamble against the American economy. Cinema Review – Minions

In this spin off from the Despicable Me films, we learn the history of the little yellow Minions, who so delight in helping the biggest villain they can find, long before they ever met the Despicable Gru. After they accidentally destroy all their masters – including a dinosaur, Napoleon, a vampire and a large portion of Ancient Egypt – the Minions isolate themselves in Antarctica, but three of their number – Bob, Kevin and Stuart – set out to find a villain they can serve, and thus fulfil their life’s purpose. Enter Scarlett Overkill (Sandra Bullock), the world’s first female super villain, who has her eyes set on the throne of England. Olympic wrestling gold medallist Mark Schultz (Channing Tatum) is surprised with an offer from a wealthy heir John E. DuPont (Steve Carell) to support and train him for the 1987 World Championships and the 1988 Olympic Games. Schultz leaves his brother Dave (Mark Ruffalo) and his family behind, as he moves across the country to be part of Team Foxcatcher.
